Hey Anthropologie lovers,

Is it just me, or do some of these Modcloth items look a lot like (now out of stock) Anthro items from the recent past?  I know, they both (along with plenty of other online boutiques) strive to capture a vintage flavor and they will sometimes show items from the same lines (Seychelles, Burlapp), but when browsing through some recent arrivals at Modcloth I was struck by similarity some of these items.  While the quality/fabric/price of most of these items may not be the same as the originals (and note they're usually on the short side for us taller folk), they may present an opportunity to get the look of some items that are no longer available (and available at a more reasonable price).  Okay, okay- the first one is cheating a little since both dresses are actually from the same designer (Modcloth dresses on the left, Anthropologie on the right).

Images come from Modcloth.com or Anthropologie.com (from the review of the item), and should link back to the site in an effort to appropriately credit.

Things worth being motivated for

I might try to copy a page out of your book Vicki and try to use shopping to motivate me to reach a goal (I already got the boys part handled :) ).  What goals?  I'm not sure yet, but what I can tell you is what will be motivating me.

This dress from Modcloth:
These Steve Madden boots that maddeningly cute (I'm soooo funny):

This overpriced, potentially rain-resistant jacket for throwing on over things when I inevitably end up biking in the rain:

And this wildly inappropriate for the weather headband, even though I should be enjoying these days of 70s and 80s instead of pushing for fall to come:
I would love to wear all of them together, although if the headband is necessary, I might need to throw on some tights as well, but I think I can come up with that out of my existing closet.

Help me out here- what can I work towards that makes purchasing these items less guilt-inducing?

Motivation!

So, as it turns out, using the promise of buying a super-cute new coat as motivation to study/do well on an exam is actually a good plan. I totally destroyed my exam today in Metabolic/Endocrine Diseases (at least, destroyed in the vet school sense, which I haven't done in awhile)! I think I'm going to go ahead and buy this coat:

I'm really excited about this! Also, my new favorite product EVER is St. Ives exfoliating facial scrub (I use the one specifically for acne prevention). I bought it on a recommendation and it is FANTASTIC-polishes my skin super-smooth without scraping it raw. Love love LOVE it!
