On the other hand, it's good to be a bit frivolous and silly sometimes, right? So for fun I threw a "capelet" on over everything to snap a few shots. This might look vaguely familiar from my 30x30 picks-it's actually a skirt that I haven't worn yet that I thought I'd try on in an unconventional manner. I'm not sure if I'd be willing to wear this out in public, but with enough confidence, anything's workable, right?
Outfit: Skirt: Target, Shirt: Marc by Marc Jacobs via Gilt, Shoes: Wanted via Delias, Skirt as Cape, Belt: Ruche, Bracelet: Grandmother's
In an unrelated note, Happy Chanukah!
And in an even more unrelated note, I have started listing (and plan to list more in the next couple of days) items to sell on Smashion, which is a up and coming marketplace site. In light of the 30x30 and my impending move, I'm trying to get rid of some of the things in my closet- namely clothes that I adore, but have been hanging up unworn in my closet because they don't fit well or I couldn't return it- it's a fair bit of Modcloth, with some Urban Outfitters/Anthro. I thought I would put up a badge on the blog in case anyone who's been visiting here was interested. I love the idea of taking the middle man out of the resale equation in an effort to benefit both the buyer and seller, plus I'm hoping to move things out in a timely manner (before I decide to snatch them back for myself), so I'm certainly open to negotiation. I can be reached at heather.innercupcake@gmail.com, and my Smashion items can be found here. And fellow 30 for 30ers, feel free to email me about reserving an item until after the challenge- I wouldn't want anyone to break their ban!

Look at you-so motivated! Also, for not putting effort into it, you certainly came up with an adorable outfit. I love that blue skirt on you-the color suits you and the style is very "you". I totally believe that you could pull that skirt off as a cape-thingy; after all, I didn't even realize it was a skirt in this picture (although that may not mean much since I'm not the most fashion-educated person in the world)! Cute flats too! All in all, I am once again impressed. :)
ReplyDeleteHeehee, I wouldn't have known the capelet was a skirt if you hadn't said anything! I think it adds some fun extra dimensions to that outfit.
ReplyDeleteThat skirt as capelet is genius! I hear you on needing an extra bit of time to readjust to being home and being back on a schedule after a vacation. Sadly, it almost never seems to work out that way.
ReplyDeleteA skirt as a cape. Wowzers. That is clever and looks great, too. One of the most original things I've seen in the challenge!

Thanks guys! Now that it's gotten blogging world approval, I might have to try it out in the real world at some point. It just wouldn't be very practical for school (not that I dress super practical).
