Day 14 of 30, Sweet Home Chicago

Traditionally, my family goes downtown the Friday after Thanksgiving to walk around- maybe a little shopping (none this year), but mostly people watching.  We actually didn't spend a whole lot of time downtown since we had tickets to see the Trans-Siberian Orchestra in the afternoon, but did get some obligatory Bean pictures, and the bf was nice enough to take a full length picture of me with my coat (barely) open.  It's a good thing we didn't spend that much time outside, since it was freeeeezing.  I don't know how ya'll manage these months up in the north, but I ended up throwing on an extra shirt, skirt, scarf, pair of tights, and socks.

Outfit details: Dress, Cardigan, Bag: Anthropologie, Boots: Intyce Steven by Steve Madden, Scarves: Gift (pink), Vendor in Montreal, Navy Skirt, Socks, Gloves: Target, Tights: We Love Colors, Coat: Old Navy, Hat (below), Banana Republic- photo by bf

Following are some of my favorite shots, taken by either me, the bf, or my dad.  I hope all of you had a fabulous Thanksgiving and holiday weekend, and that none of you froze to death.  I seem to have forgotten everything I knew about staying warm in the winter since moving to Houston- what are you favorite cold weather tricks for staying with your usual style without ending up frostbitten?

  1. You look absolutely beautiful (and freezing) in these pictures! I'm so glad you got to spend the holidays in one of my favorite cities with some of my favorite people. Love you!

  2. Oh man. It was sooo cold. It was in the 60s the weekend before, and then was getting up to 40s by the time we left, but it was pretty squarely in the 20s-low 30s during the majority of our time in Chicago. Including the day where I made Dave walk around the lake with me.

  3. Way to stay stylish and (somewhat) warm! As you well know, my winter clothes are nowhere near as stylish and tend to make me resemble some sort of rolly-polly woodland creature. Still, I love the snow!

  4. Thanks ladies! I'd like to think I'd be able to manage a full-on winter even with my current style, but it probably does help me out to be living in a warm climate. I'm secretly hoping to get in some snow this Christmas while up in CT.
